Charles M. Schulz is the most important late comer to American humor. Born: November 26, 1922. Died: February 12,2021. His most famous work "Peanuts" made him a superstar and led to the creation of a whole new genre of cartoons and comics. He was an influential comic strip artist who influenced many young readers with his wry wit and imaginative drawings.



Charles M. Schulz is best known for his Peanuts cartoons that aired on television between 1954 and 1960. In those years, he created a following of dedicated fans that grew to adore his wacky characters. Charles M. Schulz also illustrated a number of comic strips for numerous newspapers and magazines including Time, Playboy, Discover, and Comics Journal. Charles M. Schulz studied art at college but soon found it boring. He wanted to draw but couldn't draw. He ended up taking several art classes and discovered his true calling. In fact he pursued this career for twelve years before quitting his job as a cartoonist. He worked as a freelance illustrator and cartoonist until he became bored with it. Then he decided to pursue a career in comics where he would create comic strips for both children and adults.



Charles M. Schulz was born in Omaha Nebraska and grew up in a house without air conditioning and no telephone. The only television he ever got was a box with a picture on it of what appears to be a brain inside a body. He was a great lover of comic books which is where he first began his career as a comic strip artist. One of his earliest creations was a comic strip called "Calvin and Hobbes". This was later made into a movie which starred Bill Plympton and Joe Saturday.


It was while still in school that he met his future wife,hips, and life partner, Ellen Corbet. He created many comic strip characters such as Baked Alaska and Sarge, among many others. Later, he became very good at drawing and started getting noticed. Eventually, he decided to go to college to get more art instruction but soon after that, he decided to quit his job as a cartoonist so as to pursue full time art instruction.

Schulz also created the famous Charlie Brown cartoons where he plays the role of the lovable but foul mouthed but lovable red-haired girl, Charlie Brown. In 1992, Charles M. Schulz passed away from lung cancer. People were saddened by the loss of this beloved cartoonist and the impact he had on their children.
